Well, what are you going to do now to make your Mom proud of you? Have you come to the same conclusion as I have? Same results, same life, same story, same excuses, and life goes on? Life just happens and here we are almost at the middle of the new year of new beginnings that we committed to on January 1st. As Vince Lombardi said, the measure of who we are is what we do with what we have. No matter what excuses we keep giving ourselves, we can stop those right now and start again with an ounce of confidence.
What if we commit to constant and never-ending improvement starting today? We are usually not aware of the fact that we are actually designing our present right now. It’s not something we can postpone for the future if we want to change the healthy, wealthy, emotional qualities of our lives. Like Jim Rohn said, ‘Don’t just do more, become more.’ We shouldn’t judge each day by what we have done for the day, but by a new habit we have committed to, to improve ourselves in ensuring a better future. Some of us feel kind of selfish to do something for ourselves; if so, then let’s do something for someone we love or care about. Let’s try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud,’ as Maya Angelou said.
In the end, it’s not what we have that keeps us happy and content, but what we have made possible for others. It’s those memories of shared moments that enriched others’ lives that give us peace and fulfillment.
Have you ever said to yourself, “I have yet to fulfill my highest potential” Well, today is when we start. It’s not worth postponing our seeds of greatness within us. Our current situations can leave much to be desired. That’s just life. Consider it merely a starting point to building the future. Imagine the stories we can tell if we start at our worst place and then improve. Everyone can improve once they realize they can build on their starting point.
You become what you think. Wayne Dyer urged us to change our thoughts, change our lives. We don’t have to think about the same past. We can create a different past. The past is nothing more than our perception of what happened to us – and we can change that.
We are free to change our minds and choose a different past. It’s the story that we keep telling ourselves (and anyone who cares to listen) that keep us stuck in the same rut for days or weeks, if not years. If we want to change our lives, we must start by changing our stories. We can’t keep repeating the same story and expect our lives to get better. What we tell yourselves, we believe. We all know our story. We know who we are, but don’t yet know what we can become.
It’s our behaviour that tells others what we believe. We all can change our beliefs, and it starts when we step outside the box we have ourselves wrapped in. Our behaviour will change according to our beliefs. Cultivate new empowering habits to become more and be the person your Mom raised you to be…. her shining star, the achievement she is most proud of!
